3. Stop Burning Out and Start Thriving

Use the Contraction Versus Expansion Framework

First, identify the physical sensations you feel when you’re in a state of contraction, like feeling small or doubtful. These sensations signal that you’re stressed or anxious.

Once you recognize this feeling, you can shift into a state of expansion.

Plug into Expansive Fuels

Take deep breaths.

Go for a walk.

Think about what you’re grateful for.

Prioritize self-care. Exercise, meditate, get enough sleep.

Set realistic goals to avoid overwhelm and stress. Break down bigger goals into smaller, achievable steps.

By plugging into these expansive fuels, you can re-energize and inspire yourself.

4. Create Your Own Luck

Creating your own luck is not about luck at all. It’s about tapping into your expansive state.

This state allows you to see opportunities and possibilities that you might not see in a contracted state.

Here are some tips to help you create your own luck.

Focus on Your Purpose

Focusing on your vision, passion, or purpose will help you stay plugged into your expansive state.

It will allow you to see opportunities that align with your goals.

Believe in Yourself and Your Abilities

You are capable of achieving your dreams, so trust yourself and your instincts.

Take Action Towards Your Goals

Luck favors the bold, so take the necessary steps towards your goals, even if they feel scary or uncertain.

Luck is not something that happens to you. It’s something you create by staying connected to your vision and taking action towards your goals.

Stay Open to New Opportunities

You never know where opportunities might come from, so stay open to new experiences and connections.

5. Find Your Zone of Genius

Do you feel like you’re not living up to your full potential? Do you find yourself struggling to do work that doesn’t feel fulfilling? 

To achieve unreasonable success, it’s important to stay in your zone of genius. This means focusing on the things that you love and are good at.

Here are some tips to find your zone of genius and live in it every day.

Identify Your Zone of Genius

What activities bring you joy and light you up?

Identify the things that feel like play to you. Look for activities that feel fun and energizing. These are often the things you’re naturally good at.

Make a list of the activities you do on a daily basis. Categorize them based on whether you love them or not, and whether you’re good at them or not.

When you find the intersection between what you like doing and what you’re good at, then you’ve found your zone of genius.

Stay in Your Zone of Genius

Once you’ve identified your zone of genius, it’s important to stay there.

Outsource anything that falls outside your zone. This will help you stay focused and energized on the work you love.

If you can’t outsource, reframe your mindset. Connect your activities back to your purpose statement or sense of values. How does this activity support your mission in the world? This can help you find the energy to tackle tedious tasks.

If you can’t tie a task back to your purpose, then it might not be worth doing at all.

By identifying what brings you joy and fulfillment, and staying focused on those activities, you’ll be able to live a more purposeful life.

6. Achieve Unreasonable Success

Create your own playbook. Look for your own paradigm.

Don’t just copy what others are doing. If you’re inspired by someone, get to the root cause of why they’re doing something. What problem are they solving for? What’s their “why”?

Next, identify your unique strengths and build your playbook around your strengths.

Reframe Your Mindset

Shift your perspective from a place of fear and doubt to one of expansion and possibility.

Instead of letting your fears hold you back, focus on your dreams and aspirations. This will help you stay motivated.

Take Risks and Try New Things

Failure is a part of the journey to success. Learn from your failures and use them to improve.

If you feel afraid, ask yourself if your fears are rational. If they are, come up with a plan to address them. If they aren’t, remind yourself that you are safe and that everything will be okay.

7. Master Your Unpleasant Emotions

When we avoid people and situations that make us feel uncomfortable, we limit the diversity of our life.

Being a leader requires doing hard, uncomfortable work regularly. Mastering unpleasant emotions allows you the freedom to take bigger risks and achieve bigger dreams.

Here are some tips to help you master unpleasant emotions.

Recognize Unpleasant Emotions

Recognize what unpleasant emotions you’re experiencing.

Acknowledge that you’re feeling uncomfortable, stressed, or anxious.

Don’t try to ignore or suppress your emotions.

Lean Into Your Emotions

Be present with your emotions. Allow yourself to feel and express them.

Don’t judge yourself for feeling that way.

Identify and label the sensation in your body.

Move your energy through breath, movement, or sound. Turn up the dial on your emotion and allow yourself to feel it wash over you.

You can scream into a pillow or go to a boxing class.

By leaning into your emotions and releasing them, you can avoid freezing them in your body and causing unprocessed trauma. You can also gain a better understanding of yourself and your triggers, which can help you navigate future situations with more awareness and control.

Remember, discomfort is not always bad, and it’s important to allow yourself to fully experience the range of emotions that make us human.

Practice Self-Compassion

Be kind and compassionate to yourself. Just as you would to a friend.

Don’t beat yourself up for feeling uncomfortable or making mistakes.

Don’t avoid or pretend the emotion isn’t there. Instead, use it as information to better understand yourself and your past experiences.

Seek Support

Get support from others – a therapist, a friend, or a mentor.

Talk to someone who can empathize with your situation, can help you process your emotions, and can help you gain a new perspective.

Practice Mindfulness

Practice mindfulness and meditation to help you stay present and aware of your emotions.

By staying present, you can observe your thoughts and emotions without judgment. And you can learn to respond in a more effective way.

8. Manifest: Align Your Thoughts, Feelings, and Actions for Success

Manifestation is not just about positive thinking. It’s about aligning your thoughts, feelings, and actions with your vision from a place of expansion.
